So, with that said, let’s now have a look at some of the water leaks and probable solutions.

How to stop Jeep Wrangler water leaks

The solutions we are going to offer you are the ones that you can do it, and you that don’t need any professional handler. But before applying the solutions we going to give you here, it is advisable that you first find the origin of the leak. Therefore, it is better to understand that where the leak ends don’t necessarily mean it is the origin of the leak. So when diagnosing your vehicle, it is better to be careful and always refer to these solutions when handling them.

Also, remember that a car wash is a better and preferred choice to use when diagnosing your vehicle. But, if a hose is the only accessible choice, then be sure to place it on the top of your car while facing forward position.

So, here are some of the solutions for rain Water leaks to Jeep wrangler.

1. Check and clean around all the rubber seals

This is always my first step when I am doing my monthly maintenance to my wrangler. And if you might be wondering, “why do you need to clean around rubber seal?” Remember, if you frequently open and close the top of your Jeep, then dust and other off-road dirt may stick around the rubber seals. This will, in turn, lead to rubber seals not sealing water from getting in as it should. And without a proper seal, be prepared to get some water leaks.

Therefore, solving this will be a quite straightforward process. All you need is a wet piece of cloth (wet rag). Take it and wipe down all the areas around the rubber seal, including the seals too. This solution will minimize the leaks but may not solve all of them. So, to make this cleaning process more effective, you will need some Q-tips. The Q-tips are essential because it will help you get inside thigh tares and remove grime and dirt that could not be removed by the rag.

This solution is most viable for solving leaks that originate from the top of your Jeep.

2. Check and ensure the hardtop bolts are not loose

There is another solution that may compliment the first one. That means you can do both the 1st and 2nd solutions at once. The primary purpose of this solution is ensuring that the bolts used for holding your hardtop on aren’t wiggling loose. And with them lose you can expect some water to seep down into your Wrangler.

Therefore, dealing with this problem is also an easy and faster process, the same as the first one. To solve it, you will need to take your hex wrench and tighten the bolts up.

This two quickie try-fix has helped me many times, and for that, I can assure you that it may solve your problem. Remember, tighten all the bolts up on each side of the Jeep. But if you are still experiencing some water leakage, then you can try this third solution.

3. Re-adjust and tighten your tops seals properly

The other simple way to ensure you avoid water leaks from the top of your Jeep is through modifications of your seals. When we say modification, we mean ensuring that your seals aren’t folding towards outside. This will help you avoid open spaces at the top and to seal it you can try pushing the seals out towards the top.

So to fix water leak problems that arise due to this, then you can try tightening each latch in a crisscross pattern. But before you do this, you should start by placing the passenger panel down first. This is important because it will ensure your top closes and tighten correctly. The next thing to do is folding down the two front metal latches and screw the bolt in properly. Doing all these will ensure that there are no spaces left for water to seep into your Jeep.

So, if you are done with this, then let’s head to the next solution.

4. Check the cowl drain, whether it is clogged

This is one of the most dramatic water leaks on may experience in his life. This is because finding it is tough if you don’t know about it. The leading cause is usually clogging due to a lot of dirt and grime piling in the drain. So, if you are experiencing a wet floor on both your passenger’s side and driver’s side, then this might be the problem.

To check if there is a clog in your drain, then you will need to check the area bellow/under the windshield wipers. If you can manage to reach it, later try unclogging it, but mostly this is usually done at the repair shop.

5. Ensure you always clean each of your Jeep’s door seals and try fitting seal guards

Are you experiencing a puddle of water right at the top of your door that ends up leaking in? If yes, then this might be your solution. Some people have installed seal guards that are thick plastic with a 3M adhesive. Some of this seal guard might be the cause of water leaks. Why? This is because they may lead to water gathering on the top of the door, hence running sound onto your mats. Therefore, the solution is using appropriate seal guards that fit well to your locks and linings.

Also, having damaged seals or seals with obstruction can divert the flow of water, leading to water flowing into your mats. To solve this, you will need to keep your seals clean and with no cracks. The other thing is ensuring that they aren’t peeling away from the car since they will create spaces for water to seep in. And if you have any peeling away from the vehicle, then you can use taps of glue to fix it. If this doesn’t work, try replacing the seals.

Remember, just a small peal can create enough space to make your entire mats wet and your floor rusty. Therefore, it is essential to be keen to avoid further damages caused by water leaks on your vehicle.

6. Install additional weather stripping

Using weather stripping is definitely among the top ways of stopping water leaks in your Jeep. This is because they offer the extra ability for your seals to compress and seal better. With proper stripping, you can be able to solve several leaks at once.

To install this, you will need to get weather stripping from the store along with glue and scissors. After you get them, then you start installing along with the liner of your roof. This can help you avoid leaks that start from the top regardless of whether you run a hardtop Jeep wrangler or Soft-top Jeep wrangler.
