Video: Multi-player games for the mobile generation – from Glasgow

Analysts around the world have been claiming for some time that the mobile internet would eclipse access from the PC, probably by around 2015. They don’t all agree on what will make this happen.
Certainly the uptake of mobile devices by business in the past couple of years, especially iPhones and BlackBerries, has helped. But looking back at the development of computers generally, the rise in ever more attractive games was an important element. Until now, most of the games available for mobiles have been for single players, adventure games, those involving a wide range of sports and even the modern versions of arcade games. But the most popular of the games on consoles, from the Xbox360 to the Playstation 3, have been multi-player games, where you pit your wits against others online. That hasn’t happened with mobile handsets, yet. However, a Glasgow-based company called One Thumb Mobile claimed a world first at the recent Digital 2011, when it announced plans to launch such a game shortly.
